  • Event Overview: The Sunshine Coast Regional Jobs Committee, working in collaboration with Sunshine Coast Council, Noosa Council & NETA, RDAMBSC and DTET will deliver a Future Careers Dinner for Teachers on the Sunshine Coast to connect them with growth data, investment and infrastructure growth, career opportunities and emerging & high value businesses here in the Sunshine Coast and Noosa regions.

Our key action point after our community consultation workshops in June 2024 was to educate teachers, parents and students on the high value industries here now and those that are emerging so teachers could help students to plan their careers and stay here in region and support our economic growth. We know the preparation, education and engagement of a future workforce for the Sunshine Coast is critical. It will ensure the local economy can be sustained and continue to grow and compete domestically and internationally.

So, on Thursday 13th March, the Sunshine Coast Regional Jobs Committee is inviting senior school teachers, based on the Sunshine Coast, to our ‘Dinner for Teachers’ at Cartwrights Restaurant, TAFE Mooloolaba.

With career opportunities on the Sunshine Coast ever evolving, expanding into industries that teachers and their students might not even know exist within the region, we will connect them so they know exactly where the best opportunities lie for world-class career pathways.

At our Dinner for Teachers we aim to bring teachers the information they need to help guide and educate the next generation on just what opportunities are available to them in the future, right here on the Sunshine Coast.

The evening will feature;

  • Hearing first hand on the growth and opportunities in the region from State Government and our local Mayors
  • Key growth data for the region
  • Information on educational pathway options
  • Panels representing the growth and emerging industries in the region.

Join us as we help our region’s teachers and advisors, guide the next generation of Sunshine Coast business leaders.

Background: The Sunshine Coast Regional Jobs Committee is supported and funded by the Queensland Government. Established in March 2024, the remit of the Committee is to assist with a place-based, coordinated approach to local skills development, workforce participation and business growth. In June 2024, the Committee held four Local Workforce Forums with 120 business leaders from 74 local businesses to see what their main challenges and opportunities were, and from that we heard loud and clear that industry wanted better connection and education to parents, students and teachers in our community on the depth and quality of career opportunities here so we can encourage our talent pool to stay and thrive in region and support the growth we need.

  • Event Funding Supporters: Queensland Government, Sunshine Coast Council, RDAMBSC, Noosa Council with NETA and Whitehouse International
