The Goethe-Institut and German Week Melbourne proudly present the hilarious comedy Everything’s Fifty Fifty by German Iranian filmmaker Alireza Golafshan! Join us for this one-time screening that also includes a welcome drink.

The award-winning filmmaker takes a loving and intelligent look at his characters. He explores the question, whether the desire for family-life in harmony within blended families is a viable one. Golafshan sets the story in Italy and up for disaster: a family holiday, even though the parents are not in a romantic relationship anymore. 

Moritz Bleibtreu (Run Lola, run) embodies a divorced man on holiday with his ex-wife, played by a brilliant Laura Tonke, and their son. The parents realise that the fifty-fifty parenting style they agreed upon leaves big gaps in their son’s upbringing that they did not notice earlier: their eleven-year-old son drinks espresso and can’t swim… 

The comedy Everything’s Fifty Fifty captivates with its quick-witted dialogue and humorous portrayal of modern parenting issues. Critics particularly praise the authentic portrayal of family dynamics.
